Cookie Policy
What cookies we use, why we use them, and exactly how you can control every category.
Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, which ones stoppitching.com uses, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They let a site remember information about your visit, such as your preferences or choices, so it doesn't have to ask you again every time you load a page. Similar technologies, like local storage, work in a comparable way and are treated the same under this policy.
Categories of cookies we use
We group cookies into four categories, matching the toggles in our cookie banner:
| Category | Purpose | Can be disabled? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Required for the site and cookie banner itself to function | No |
| Functional | Remembers your formation, squad and interface preferences | Yes |
| Analytics | Aggregate, privacy-respecting usage measurement | Yes |
| Advertising | Supports the free-to-play advertising model described in How It Works | Yes |
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to work as intended: they remember that you've responded to the cookie banner, maintain basic security, and keep pages functioning correctly. Because they're essential, they cannot be switched off through our banner, though you can still block them through your browser settings at the cost of some site functionality.
Functional cookies
If you allow functional cookies, we may store details such as your last-used formation and in-progress squad selection on the Team Builder page, purely so the page can restore your work if you return. This data stays local to your browser and is not required for the site to work.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand, in aggregate, which pages and features are used and how often, so we can prioritise improvements. We choose analytics tools that minimise personal data collection wherever possible and we do not use analytics data to build individual advertising profiles.
Advertising and affiliate cookies
If enabled, advertising cookies support the display advertising and affiliate/sponsorship revenue model explained fully in How It Works. They may be used to measure how advertising or partner content performs. They do not run inside the Team Builder or calculator themselves.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies on our site may be set by service providers acting on our behalf, such as analytics or advertising partners, rather than directly by stoppitching.com. We vet these providers for reasonable privacy standards, and any such cookies still fall under the categories and controls described in this policy — you don't need to visit another website to manage them.
How long cookies last
Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a set period — typically between 30 days and 12 months depending on their purpose — or until you delete them manually or clear your browser storage, whichever comes first.
Legal basis for cookie use
Strictly necessary cookies are used on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a functioning website. All other categories — functional, analytics and advertising — are used only with your consent, which you give (or decline) through our cookie banner, in line with applicable ePrivacy and GDPR requirements for users in Spain and the EU.
Managing your cookie choices
You can change your preferences at any time using the "Manage preferences" option in our cookie banner, which appears on every page until you make a choice, and can be reset by clearing your browser's site data. Declining optional categories does not affect your ability to use the Team Builder or calculator.
Controlling cookies through your browser
In addition to our own cookie banner, every modern browser lets you view, block or delete cookies through its settings menu, usually found under "Privacy" or "Site settings." Disabling all cookies at the browser level, including strictly necessary ones, may prevent parts of the site — including the cookie banner itself — from working correctly.
Do Not Track signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is currently no common industry standard for how websites should respond to this signal, so our site currently responds to your choices made directly through our cookie banner rather than the browser-level signal. You can still use the banner to decline all optional cookies at any time.
Cookies and children
In line with our Privacy Policy, StopPitching is intended for users aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly use cookies to collect data from minors.
Updates to this Cookie Policy
We may update this policy if we change the cookies or similar technologies we use, for example when adding a new analytics or advertising provider. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
